Turn your loop into a whole song
This web Song Maker loops four bars. In Create Music in Piano Aura you record your own playing on your iPhone, layer melody over chords over bass, drag any note until it sits right, and share the finished song.
How can I make a song online for free?
Use the Song Maker from Piano Aura: it runs free in your browser with no download or account. Pick a key and a tempo, tap a melody, one chord per bar and a bass line into a four-bar grid, and press play to hear it loop. Every note stays in the key, and the Share button turns your song into a link anyone can open and play.
How to make a song
- 1Pick a key and a tempo. Choose any major or minor key. The melody row shows the seven notes of that key plus the top note, and the chord menu shows the seven chords that belong to it.
- 2Add chords. Choose one chord for each of the four bars. If you are not sure, try the first, fifth, sixth and fourth chords of the key: the loop behind countless pop songs.
- 3Tap in a melody and a bass line. Each column is one beat. Tap squares in the melody rows to add notes; tinted squares are notes of that bar's chord and always fit. In the bass rows, the root follows the chord and the fifth sits above it.
- 4Play it and share it. Press play to hear the loop and keep editing while it plays. Share song copies a link that opens your song, ready to play, on any phone or computer.
Questions about the Song Maker
- Do I need to know music theory?
- No. Every square is a note in the key you picked and every chord on the menu belongs to that key, so nothing you tap clashes. The tinted squares show which melody notes belong to the chord underneath.
- What happens if I change the key?
- The whole song moves to the new key: the melody, chords and bass keep their places in the scale, so the tune stays the same and only its pitch changes. Switching between major and minor changes its mood.
- Can I make longer songs or record myself?
- The web Song Maker is a four-bar loop. In the Piano Aura app on iPhone, Create Music lets you record your own playing, edit and add chords, and build a longer song to share.
