How to use the metronome
- 1Set your tempo. Drag the slider or tap the − and + buttons to choose a tempo between 40 and 240 BPM.
- 2Or tap it in. Not sure of the tempo? Tap the Tap tempo button in time with the music and the metronome matches your pace.
- 3Choose your time signature. Pick any time signature the app supports, from 2/2 to 12/16, grouped by note value. The first beat of each bar is accented so you always hear the downbeat.
- 4Press start. Press Start and practise in time. The beat indicator lights up on every beat, even with sound off.
Why practise with a metronome?
A steady pulse is the fastest way to build clean, even timing. Start a new piece slower than feels natural, lock in every note against the click, then nudge the tempo up a few BPM at a time. The accented downbeat helps you feel where each bar begins, which makes tricky rhythms far easier to count.
